ABOUT OUR COMPANY

OUR MISSION & VALUE PROPOSITION

Our Mission is to reduce the annual fatalities at Underground SA Mines 73% by continuously monitoring the roof conditions and recommended support systems continuously within a 50m mining
drivage.

Key Parameter with Specific Risks Reduction
Joint Types – Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Support Systems. 37%
Spacing, Bolt Lengths & OD, Anchorage etc. 27%
Mining Methods, Drill bits used, and bolt installation method. 9.0%

Our goal will be achieved by partnering with the SA underground mines, and other external specialists in designing, implementing, and monitoring the effective and simple roof support systems, where ‘Effective = Cheapest and Safe System.’

Our aim will be achieved by implementing a 4 x Step Roof Support Design cycle that enhances continuous knowledge sharing and improves the understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of roof behavior and roof support systems. To develop practical guidelines and risk-based design, installation, and monitoring of underground working support systems.

STEP ONE: ROCK TEST & CLASSIFICATION.

• Monitor Roof Condition Changes (up to 2.5m in SA)
• Layer formation and thicknesses
• PLT, BTS, and RQD
• Water sensitivity and CMRR

STEP TWO: ROOF SUPPORT SYSTEMS DESIGN VERIFICA TIONS.

• Determine Support Mode (i.e. Beam Building, Suspension, or Keying)
• Determine roof support length, anchorage, and diameter
• Determine roof bolt spacing
• Perform sensitivity analysis on SF and POF
• Determine the cost of support system per ton mined

STEP THREE: MANUFACTUR ING AND QC

• Ribbed and pinned rebar bolts (from 0.5m to 2.5m), both 16mm and 20mm
• Oslo straps (300mm width, with lengths from 1m to 6m)
• Lacing bolts (from 0.5m to 2.5m)

STEP FOUR: ROCK BOLT PULL TESTS.

• Objective: Fail resin/rock or bolt
• Determine bond shear strength or grip factor (KN/mm) and support stiffness (KN/mm)
• 3 tests for each horizon
• Results to be used for design reviews and inputs

OUR VISION & CORE VALUES

Our Vision
To collaborate with all involved stakeholders within the SADC region in defining an optimal underground mine roof support strategy for the extraction of valuable minerals — one that aligns the economic objectives of the mine with the capabilities, properties, and behavior of the rock mass.

Our Mission and Core Values
To achieve our mission and vision, the company abides by the following core values:

  1. Innovation
We continuously seek out and integrate the latest advancements in rock mass property classification, and the design and manufacturing of support system technologies.
